And (remember) as We said to the Angels, “Prostrate (yourselves) to Adam”, so they prostrated (themselves) except Iblis (Satan): He refused and waxed proud, and He was (one) of the disbelievers. Al-Quran (2:34)

It was 2018, when I read this verse from Quran for the first time. I was moved by the words, “He refused and waxed proud” and held onto the concept that Iblis found himself superior to all and refused to obey the Lord who blessed him with those distinctive features, on which he was taking pride. I observed myself and everyone around me for days, until one fine day, a burning thought popped up in my mind: “What if someday, Allah creates even better being than us and commands us to prostrate the novel entity?” What our Lord is taking about? WE ARE THE CROWN OF ALL HIS CREATIONS. We have conquered this universe with our wisdom and wonders. How come a novel being dare superior to us?

Talking in realization of this modern world, we humans who are equally superior to each other, with equal probability of achieving and accomplishing everything one can presume, look down upon each other in the name of beauty, intellect, class, caste, race, religion and what not? Thereby taking pride on ourselves on self-created standards with least concordance to basic human tendency. “Humans becoming the false gods of other humans.” In this premise, I think, how can we assume to be a firm believer who will capitulate when put into the same trial as Satan was, by Allah? Alas! we will exhibit the worst form of Satanic Pride at that moment..

We, our Lord, will not prostrate before your any novel being..
